Smartmeter UTS

Nexjen System’s provides production test systems for wireless utility meters based on a system platform developed over 4 years and deployed in multiple manufacturing sites in the US and abroad.

Specifications

  • The test systems are based on a core hardware platform from National Instruments that covers typical baseband and RF test cases with a small physical footprint and reduced cost over traditional rack and stack test equipment.
  • Test software is based on a TestStand Executive that can be customized to meet client needs.
  • UUT connectivity is provided via standard mass interconnect from Virginia Panel Corporation.  Final board connections are made with customized production fixtures.
  • Design Validation fixtures can accommodate a variety of interconnect options including UL style, pogo, and standard cable sets.
  • Requirements:
    • Capabilities for baseband and RF test cases. Custom RF protocols or modulation are often required.
    • System must be expandable to meet changing UUT requirements and the addition of new test plans.
    • System must be capable of testing multiple UTT’s with wide ranging fixture and interconnect differences.
    • System should have a small footprint and be designed for deployment to a contract manufacturing environment.
    • Ability to share code across design validation and production test is increasingly common.
    • Test Executive software should interface into a SQL database or export results into a stand text file for import into an enterprise database.
    • System hardware should be COTS equipment that easily calibrated by traditional vendors.
    • Easy to support and control

Software

  • Test Software Architecture:
    • Custom TestStand Application – Test System Control:  sequencing editor, operator interface, test sequencing, and report generation/data storage.
